Getting the most from a wedding fair

Getting engaged and doing the rounds of wedding fairs is great fun. But getting the most from from a wedding fair is an acquired art as it can also be a bit overwhelming. There’s so much to think about! As well as cake to sample.
So here’s a few tips to help you get the most from the wedding fairs you visit:

The business cards and flyers
The chances are you’ll gather a lot of business cards and flyers and goody bags from all the suppliers you talk to.
So, before you even start to study them get them sorted into business types. Put all the florists together, the cake-makers etc.

Then go through them and try if you can to visit their websites too.
When a business has a stand at a wedding fair they’re obviously doing their best to display their services in the space they have. But it’s not reasonable to think they can show everything they sell or can do to its best advantage – it can only ever be a representation.
That’s why it’s a good idea to check out their websites and their social media presences for a fuller indication of what they can do – and look for reviews from their customers too. That will help you to see what appeals to you the most.
Failing a word-of-mouth recommendation reviews on social media are the next best thing.

Arrange a consultation
Going through that process should narrow down your supplier list.
With your short-list formed the next stage is to contact them and arrange a consultation.
With the variety of venues now available weddings are much more a year-round thing than they once were. Which makes suppliers busy people.
Therefore, if there’s a supplier you’re particularly keen on then sooner rather than later is advisable – if only to check they’re available on your wedding date. A detailed chat can then follow.

Most suppliers in the wedding industry hold free consultations with clients. These are mainly to meet face to face and chat about your wedding and what you’re after. Such a meeting will ascertain if you and the supplier are a good match.
Any wedding supplier will want to ensure your wedding is as you wish it to be – so if you’re unsure of anything just ask!
As a wedding and event dresser we would be happy to meet with you to discuss your ideas for your wedding day. Our services also include venue accessory hire and if we don’t stock a particular item that you must have to enhance your venue styling then we can source it for you.
