Celebration Days of the Year

Days of the Year

‘I’m thinking of the days …’ sang The Kinks back in 1968.  And talking of days, celebration days to be exact.  We have Father’s Day fast approaching and the Fab Gift Boutique has been building a list of lovely ways you can celebate your dad and make him see how much he is loved.

celebrtion days cookie cuttersAmong other splendid gifts on our website we have some funky and brilliant biscuit cutters that you can bake a treat with for your dad, or uncle or brother, or the postman – you get the idea. In case you missed it, here’s our fab Father’s Day blog.

Aside though from Mothering Sunday and Father’s Day there are a whole host of awareness days. Some of them are silly and simply for fun (I assume at least) while others have a serious purpose to them. As a rule this is to raise awareness about a health or social issue. I have no idea how the apparently more frivolous ones came about. If anyone knows do get in touch and tell us about it.

For the fun of it, let’s take a look at a few websites for days of the year and awareness days.

Awareness Days

Based in the UK we have Awareness Days.Com This site lets you create an account with them so you can add your own event/awareness day.

According to the website the aim is: ‘ … to create a central resource, making awareness days more easily accessible to a wider audience and with improved accuracy of information covering the leading Awareness Days and Events. The Awareness Days calendar is a combination of research by our staff who have painstakingly trawled the internet to add and verify the accuracy of our featured awareness days, and user generated content, submitted by organisers across the globe…’

Examples of  a few upcoming awareness days are:

World Blood Doner Day  – 14th June

World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought  2018    – 17th June

International Literacy Day – 8th September

Fun Days of the Year

Days of the year.com has some fun days, weeks and months to explore and put in your calendar. We’ve missed International Axe Throwing Day but if you’re a diary lover then you’re in luck for June is Dairy Month! Say ‘Cheese’! And here’s one to look forward to on 7th July when it’s Chocolate Day.      That’s one of my personal favourites. There are so many good chocolates available. Booja Booja chocolates are worth breaking your diet for and so is the Anthon Berg’s range of  chocolate liquers.

Over on Holiday Insights.Com there’s a list of the weird, wacky and wonderful in days and months. How about ‘Run it Up the Flagpole and See if Anyone Salutes Day’? You’re desperate to know more about that one surely? Okay then – you asked for it. Though you’ve a while to go yet if you fancy giving it a go.

‘Date When Celebrated: Always January 2

Run it Up the Flagpole to See if Anyone Salutes Day is set aside to allow people to exercise their creativity. So be creative today.  Use this day to try and test new ideas and concepts.  Don’t limit the ideas to business applications. In your personal life, try out a new dress or clothing style, or a different haircut.

Or, buy a new house flag and run it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes…or even notices

So there you have it – a quick whizz around some non-Hallmark-designated-days-of-the-year. Plenty to make you smile or take action.

Choose the celebration days or  awareness days you are going to take part in and let us know.

Don’t forget to check out our gifts for him selection which we trust will inspire you to select something for the special male in your life.
